Scientific Name Serinus canaria
Description Nests in bushes or dense trees. Plumage of the upper parts and sides is grey and light brown, with streaks on the back and flanks; some yellow mixed in. Throat, breast and belly are yellow. Beak is short, thick and rose coloured. Tail has a characteristic bevelled edge. Female is similar, but less colourful.

Conservation Status The species is not listed in the Red Book of Vertebrates of Portugal. At the European level, classified as Not Threatened, with the situation considered Safe.
