Scientific Name Erinaceus europaeus
Description Easily identified by the long, sharp spines covering its back, which are brown with dark bands at the tips. Body length is from 18 to 20 cm and maximum weight around 1 kg. Its tail is very small, ears also small, and its head sticks out clearly from its body. Solitary and territorial, essentially nocturnal, seen at dawn or dusk. Feeds mostly on invertebrates.
