Scientific Name Regulus regulus azoricus
Description Breeds in areas of native forest, mixed woodland and Cryptomeria forests. It is the smallest bird in Europe. Very small and active. Plumage essentially greenish-brown, wings black with white margins on the upper side; white throat; breast and abdomen brownish-white; legs black; beak black, short and fine. Has a head crest the width of the crown (similar to the hoopoe) which is yellow in the females and orange in the male individuals.
