Scientific Name Carduelis carduelis parva
Description Breeds in mixed and deciduous woodland at low altitude, in pine forests, orchards and gardens. Nests in the crown of trees, usually among fine external branches. Plumage is brown on the back; wings black (with white tips to the primaries and secondaries) with a central yellow wing bar; breast is light brown and belly white; tail is bevelled, black with white tips; legs are light brown and bill is whitish and strong.
Taxonomic Status Exotic species of European origin, introduced/ escaped from captivity.
Phenological Status Resident
Conservation Status The species is not listed in the Red Book of Vertebrates of Portugal. At the European level, classified as Not Threatened, with the situation considered Safe.
