Scientific Name Triturus cristatus
Description Cylindrical body with a laterally compressed tail of the same size or bigger than the rest of the body. Adults can reach 16 cm. Male has a dark brown or black colouration with irregular green spots along the body and a crest in the breeding season. Female exhibits an orange line along the body. Depends mainly on wetlands with some vegetation. This species was introduced as an ornamental pet in private gardens.
