Scientific Name Columba livia atlantis
Description Breeds in caves on steep cliffs, mainly on the coast but also in mountainous areas. Medium sized bird, well known to the general population. Plumage is grey with black wing bars, black on the extremities of the tail, and a white rump patch. Beak is short and fine, black and white.

Conservation Status Classified as Data Deficient on the archipelago of the Azores in the Red Book of Vertebrates of Portugal. At the European level, classified as SPEC 3, with its situation considered Safe, though there is some confusion due to feral populations.
