Scientific Name Larus michaellis atlantis
Description Ground nesting on islets, lakes and cliffs. It’s about the size of a Shearwater. In adults, plumage of the back and wings is generally grey (wing tip is black with white spots) and throat, breast and under parts are white. The strong, medium sized beak is yellow with a red tip. Legs are yellow.

Conservation Status Data on the abundance of this species is not available in the Red Book of Vertebrates of Portugal. At the European level, listed as SPEC 3, with population numbers increasing.
