In the eastern part of the island of São Miguel, two rural and isolated councils remain: Nordeste and Povoação.

And it is precisely this isolation that allowed them to preserve, within time, traditions, heritage, culture and natural resources that are unique, such as:  the Priolo or Azores Bullfinch (a bird that can only be found on this territory), the Azorean Laurel forest (a living treasure of the archipelago), the peatlands, lakes and seashore cliffs, that enrich not only these two councils, but also all the island and the arquipelago itself. All these values make  the Lands of Priolo a wonderful place for those in search of nature, tradition and calm.
