The ceremony of excellence of Portuguese Museology: the award delivery ceremony of the APOM (Portuguese Association of Museology) – 2009 was held at the Museum of Neo-Realism in Vila Franca de Xira on November 27. The organisation of this annual ceremony is mainly intended to dignify the work carried out by the Portuguese Museums. The ceremony was presided over by the State Secretary of Culture, Elísio Summavielle, who was accompanied by the president of the APOM, João neto, and by the president of the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, Maria da Luz Rosinha. Moreover, the ceremony was also attended by the representatives of various institutions and entities in the area of culture, heritage, museums and national politics.
There were several categories in competition: the best Portuguese museum; the best exhibition, the best cultural service extension; the best catalogue; the best work on museology; the best site; the best online communication; the best journalistic work; the best personality in the area of museology and the best innovation and creativity project.
The prize for best cultural extension service was awarded to the Carlos Machado Museum.
