Carlos Teixeira is the new President of the Administration Board of Corvo Island Health Unit
The Government of the Azores has appointed Carlos Alberto Maia Marques Teixeira as President of the Administration Board of Corvo Island Health Unit.
Carlos Teixeira graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Coimbra and currently heads the Arganil Health Centre. He is also the technical manager and clinical director of the Integrated Continuing Care Hospital of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Tábua.
Throughout his professional career, he was the founder and Clinical Director of Azeméis Clinic, located in Oliveira de Azeméis, and was one of the people responsible for the creation of the Azeméis Radiological Centre.
In 1997, he implemented an ambulance service between the patient's home and the health unit in the municipality of Arganil and, 10 years later, he opened the Arganil basic emergency service in the district of Coimbra.
As a result of his experience in Geriatrics, he has been at the service of the elderly homes of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Arganil for 22 years as well as of Assistência Folquense.
In the academic field, Carlos Teixeira was part of the examination jury for the appointment of doctors to the general practice career as well as in admission procedures for vacancies in the Regional Health Administration of Central Portugal, the College of General Practice and the Portuguese Medical Association.
From August 1, Carlos Teixeira replaces Adelino Dinis Dias, who passed away in June.
