The Government of the Azores has appointed lawyer Paula Cristina da Conceição Portela Brás Soares de Albergaria to take over the position of Regional Health Inspector, from April 1.
Paula Brás graduated in Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra in 1997. She has practised law in the city of Ponta Delgada for five years.
Since 2004, she exercised duties in Law and Public Administration, particularly in the areas of legal support, human resources and vocational training.
As senior technician at Ponta Delgada City Hall, she is in charge of administrative offence proceedings, providing assistance and participation in the selection boards for the recruitment of staff. She has also provided legal support to the Administrative Management Division and the Financial Management Department.
Between 2009 and 2011, Paula Brás held the position of Coordinator of the Training Centre of Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada under the external mobility scheme.
Paula Brás replaces Paulo Gomes, who has carried out Regional Health Inspector duties since 2011, the date of implementation of this service. He now ceases duties at his request.
The mission of the Regional Health Inspection is to monitor the compliance with the rules applicable to the Regional Health Service. It strives for the proper functioning and quality of services, the defence of the interests and well-being of citizens as well as for safeguarding public interest.
