President of the Government calls meeting of the Strategic Concertation Council to analyse the Agenda for Employment Creation
The President of the Government called a meeting of the Regional Strategic Concertation Council to analyse the implementation of the Azorean Agenda for Employment Creation and Business Competitiveness.
Chaired by the Resident of the Government, the Regional Strategic Concertation Council is the consultation and coordination body in the field of economic, social and environmental policies, being composed of representatives of the social partners of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
This body includes representatives of workers, employers, fisheries and agricultural sectors, local authorities, Private Social Solidarity Institutions, consumer protection associations, environmental protection associations as well as associations in the area of equality of opportunities and the University the Azores. It also comprises representatives of the Azores in the Economic and Social Council and personalities of recognised merit in the areas that fall under the powers assigned to the Council.
In December 2012, the Government of the Azores presented about sixty measures to address job creation and increased business competitiveness, of which 70 percent were unprecedented in the Region.
The approval of this Azorean Agenda for Employment Creation and Business Competitiveness, just 42 days after the Regional Government entered into office, took place during an extraordinary meeting of the Government Council to analyse the issues of Business Competitiveness and Employment.
The plenary session of the Regional Strategic Concertation Council is scheduled for Tuesday at Faial Resort Hotel in Horta at 9 AM.
