The President of the Government received today the RTP Opinion Board at a meeting, where he conveyed the belief that the needs of public radio and television service in the Azores are not limited to the improvement of facilities and technical equipment.
"It is important to acknowledge the efforts undertaken and the steps taken to improve the operating conditions of public radio and television service in the Azores, namely in terms of facilities and some equipment," said Vasco Cordeiro.
After the meeting held in Ponta Delgada, the President of the Government pointed out that everyone should bear in mind that the "needs of public radio and television service in the Azores are not limited to the improvement of facilities" on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira and Faial.
"There are also needs that must be met in terms of equipment and human resources. Regarding the latter, they are important from the standpoint of their qualification and training as well as from the standpoint of the service's capacity to fully comply with its assigned role," said the President of the Government.
Speaking to journalists, Vasco Cordeiro also stressed the usefulness of holding this meeting with the RTP Opinion Board, which is chaired by Manuel Coelho da Silva and composed mostly of members appointed by associations and other entities representing different sectors of society.
"This meeting represents another direct and more permanent step in the efforts undertaken by the representative of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, José Lourenço, at this Opinion Board," said Vasco Cordeiro.
