The President of the Government welcomed today in Ponta Delgada the head of La Caixa Foundation, Artur Santos Silva, to whom he expressed his satisfaction at the readiness of this institution to support projects in several areas in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
"I express my satisfaction with this integrated vision of the whole national territory in what concerns the scope and functioning of the La Caixa Foundation. There is now an immense field of opportunities that opens up and, in this context, the Azores have a lot of work to do to submit eventual projects to evaluation," said Vasco Cordeiro.
After meeting with Artur Santos Silva, the President of the Government recalled that the La Caixa Foundation, run by BPI Bank, has already approved a palliative care project at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada, which will start in October.
"I would like to emphasise at this meeting the truly national vision about the activity of La Caixa Foundation and the convergence that may exist between its areas of intervention and the reality of the Autonomous Region of the Azores," said Vasco Cordeiro. In this regard, he highlighted the possibilities open to the Azorean society in areas such as social support, culture, research and science.
"This perspective and this vision are exciting for the Government of the Azores, and it is also up to the Azorean society to seize these opportunities," said the President of the Government.
