The President of the Government ensured today that the Government has always been available to hear political parties and social partners, as evidenced by several hearings held throughout this legislative period and the proposals approved at the Legislative Assembly.
"Today, I have an absolutely clear conscience regarding the fulfilment of this expectation, which was also accomplished due to the willingness of several political parties and social partners in submitting their contributions," added Vasco Cordeiro.
During the debate at the plenary session taking place in city of Horta, Vasco Cordeiro stressed that the stability and security the current majority provides to the Region is also present in the proposals submitted by the opposition that are approved at the Parliament.
Moreover, Vasco Cordeiro recalled that political parties and social partners were invited several times to meet with the Government on a wide range of matters so that they could be heard on what they had to say about the challenges the Region has faced over the years.
"I took this very seriously and all had the opportunity to tell which path they defended," the President of the Government said, recalling that having a "stable majority at this Assembly and respecting democracy does not ignore what most Azoreans wished to accomplish."
In today's parliamentary debate, Vasco Cordeiro also stressed that there were some aspects the Government wanted to move ahead faster during this legislative period, pointing out, as example, the recovery of school failure and the fight against domestic violence and social exclusion.
"This does not mean that the Government has done nothing or that we are failing in this fight. This means that I have the ambition to go on a faster path," concluded the President of the Government."
