Regional Government launches tenders for works in rural roads on Santa Maria, Pico and Terceira
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry, through the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, published today in the Official Journal public tender for the construction and redevelopment of three rural roads on Santa Maria, Pico Terceira, an investment of 888 thousand Euros.
With these investments, the Regional Government continues with the modernisation of public agricultural infrastructures with a direct impact on the improvement of the working conditions of farmers who will benefit from these works.
Investments in agricultural infrastructure are key to reducing farm production costs and to ensuring the sustainability of one of the main economic activities in the Region.
On Santa Maria, the tender concerns the first phase of three phases of the works in Facho Rural Road, with an estimated budget of 365 thousand Euros, which includes interventions in 1,205 metres of an area over 4,000 metres length.
This road provides access to 30 farms, 280 hectares of pasture, two inert production facilities, EDA wind farm and to Pedreira do Campo Natural Monument.
As for Landroal Rural Road, located in the village of Prainha, municipality of São Roque do Pico, the tender with a budget of 353 thousand Euros concerns the last phase of the works, covering an extension of 3,230 metres.
The intervention in this very important road for Pico farmers, with an overall extension of 6.25 kilometres, has been carried out with the resources from the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources.
On Terceira, the tender concerns the improvement of Barro Vermelho Rural Road in the village of Ribeirinha, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo. With an estimated budget of 170 thousand Euros, the intervention will be carried out along an extension of 2,540 metres.
