Following the commitment made at the Regional Council of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, held in the city of Horta on January 21, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment will promote a forum for the discussion of the milk production to take place at the São Miguel Exhibition Park in Santana on March 9.
As announced by the Regional Secretary on the occasion, this initiative will be carried out on a regular basis. It aims to "closely follow the evolution of the market" and "implement the measures that are best suited to each situation," such as those arising from the Russian ban and the end of the milk quota system in the European Union.
Luís Neto Viveiros considered that the challenge posed by the current situation of the milk market "is not a problem of farmers, industries or markets; it is a problem of the Azores and we will certainly overcome it with success, as it has happened in other moments of our [collective] life."
The Regional Secretary also highlighted the commitment to improve "the promotion of regional dairy products" abroad. This goal will be accomplished with the implementation of the "Azores Brand," which will be presented by SDEA to representatives of the production, industrial and marketing sectors as well as to the other guests participating in the forum.
