The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and the Environment stated in Povoação that joint efforts and synergies, namely between the Regional Government and local authorities, benefit farmers and populations.
Luís Neto Viveiros spoke at the signing of a protocol with Povoação Town Hall to improve Queimada and Curral Fundo roads in the village of Furnas. In this regard, he stressed that these "joint efforts" allows us to "enhance the capabilities of each one so that we may fulfil the expectations of the populations."
In addition to the collaboration with the municipalities of Povoação and Nordeste, the Secretary for Agriculture also highlighted the cooperation of Furnas Village Councils and farmers involved in the works for the provision of agricultural infrastructures in these municipalities of S. Miguel, whose completion was marked today.
In the municipality of Nordeste, where the Government invested over one million Euros in roads under the management of the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, the improvement works of Espigão da Madeira Rural Road were carried out in the village of Achada.
This investment of almost 800 thousand Euros ensures safety conditions for farmers with the implementation of a drainage system.
In the municipality of Povoação, where the Government carried out works amounting to half a million Euros, the government official marked the completion of the improvement works of Arrasto Rural Road in the village of Água Retorta. It included the paving of the road surface, the installation of gutters and the construction of an aqueduct.
The Regional Secretary also visited today the Moinho Rural Road, a work already concluded in the village of Salga in Nordeste, and the Borda da Rocha and Vale Grande rural roads in the village of Água Retorta in Povoação. In this context, he pointed out the importance of these investments in water supply and electrification and the improvement of rural roads.
Luís Neto Viveiros said that, this being a strategic investment to continue, it provides a significant contribution to the reduction of operating costs and, hence, to the increase of the competitiveness of farms.
