Regional Government extends application period for investments in water storage on farms
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry announced that the deadline for the submission of applications under PRORURAL+ for investment projects on farms specifically directed to the use and storage of water will be extended until January 21.
"The extension of the deadline, originally stipulated until the end of the year, will allow more farmers to submit applications as the festive season this month limits the submission of applications," said João Ponte.
The minister emphasised that the support for the organisation of a strategic investment of the utmost importance for the competitiveness of farms, the reduction of production costs and greater efficiency in the management of water resources among farmers.
The available allocation for this application procedure is set at 1.5 million Euros to reinforce the water storage capacity on farms, which currently exceeds 50 million litres.
This decision falls within the policies for the prevention and mitigation of possible effects of climate change on the regional agricultural sector, which is one the priorities set by the Regional Government.
