During the first quarter of 2011, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry concluded six contract works for the construction power grid systems, covering a total of 18 farms on the island of São Miguel in a global investment over 300 thousand Euros.
With this public investment, the Government of the Azores continues to contribute to the modernisation of the regional animal husbandry sector, thus reducing production costs and increasing the income of farmers.
These contract works were the result of the need to improve the working conditions of farms and ensure the interconnection with other public investments in agricultural infrastructures and private investments.
The farms comprised by these investments occupy a total area of 555 hectares of pasture.
On the island of Sao Miguel, three contract works for the construction power grid systems in farms are being carried out in global investment over 200 thousand Euros and an additional five contract works have already been launched, corresponding to an estimated investment of 340 thousand Euros.
