Berto Messias highlights importance of "seizing the potential" arising from the fact that the Azores are the youngest region of the country
The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency pointed out in Angra do Heroísmo the importance of "seizing the potential" arising from the fact that the Azores are "the youngest region of the country."
"This has to be carried out through the implementation of the concrete political agenda we are developing with the support of existing programmes, such as "Inspire yourself," "Learn and Take Action," Youth Free Time Occupation and Social Entrepreneurship - Jovem+, and some new programme we will soon launch," said Berto Messias, who spoke at the end of a visit to the Youth Development Centre of Cáritas.
In this sense, he stressed "the provision of public support tools focused on the acquisition of skills that will result in better qualifications and increased employability." According to him, these tools "are expected to involve thousands of young Azoreans in the near future."
"In addition to the programmes we are developing and launch, we must also expand partnerships with institutions working with young people every day," stressed Berto Messias, who was accompanied on this visit by the Regional Director for Youth, Lúcio Rodrigues.
The Regional Secretary stressed that the priorities for the next four years in this area are "well defined," with special emphasis on "more employment, more training and increased civic participation in all initiatives we support and join."
"Whatever we may help promoting, it should meet these goals, which are clearly present," said Berto Messias.
