The Regional Secretary who oversees the Youth area in the Azores met with the Regional Board of the National Scouts Corp at Belo Jardim Training Centre in Praia da Vitória at the organisation's invitation. The event also included the presentation of the action plan developed by the National Scouts Corp (CNE) in the Azores.
At the end of the meeting, Berto Messias praised the work of this institution and "the role that has been playing for many years in the Azores in the promotion of habits, practices and social responsibility among Azorean children and young people."
According Berto Messias, "one of the guiding axes of youth policies we intend to develop in the Region concerns the increase of civic participation and, in this context, CNE is an institution of reference that respect and value."
"Over the past few years, the Government of the Azores has regarded the Regional Board of CNE as a partner in the development of youth policies and the political cycle that we now start will be no exception," restated the Assistant Secretary of the Presidency.
Berto Messias ensured that the Regional Government will "pay greater attention to a political agenda aimed at the promotion and encouragement of civic participation and the involvement of young Azoreans in the construction of our common future. In this context, we believe that this organisation may play an important role in the process, taking into account its work and the regional scope it ensures, given its form of organisation in the various groups scattered through the archipelago."
