The Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs stressed in Ponta Delgada the importance that the Interjovem Card plays in the mobility policies the Government of the Azores has developed for young people in the archipelago.
"In a geographically dispersed region such as ours, it is easy to realise that mobility is a very critical aspect for our youth," said Isabel Rodrigues. The government official spoke at the presentation of the 2016/2017 edition of Interjovem Card at the Maritime Terminal of "Portas do Mar."
The Regional Secretary stressed that the Interjovem Card "has allowed Azorean young people to access a wide range of training, fun and knowledge opportunities. It has provided a very important contribution to equality of opportunities among young people from various islands, which has strengthened regional cohesion and the idea of regional identity that is so important to us."
Maritime travelling is one of the main attractive features of this card insofar as youngsters can make an unlimited number of travels for the price of 7.5 Euros.
For the operation that begins now, each age group will continue to have a different card price. As for the first group, from 13 to 23 years, the price is set at 35 Euros, while for the second group, from 24 to 30 years, the price is set at 48 Euros.
This change, introduced last year, has resulted in a 12% increase in card sales, a figure which Isabel Rodrigues expects "to be greatly exceeded" this year.
The creation of Interjovem Discount Agenda is the novelty introduced in the 2016/2017 edition. It includes a coupon associated with each business partner that has joined the campaign, offering discounts on the purchase of goods and services.
The Interjovem Card provides discounts on more than two hundred business partners and institutions throughout the archipelago, covering areas such as restaurants, hotels, transport, health and wellness, banks and communications, culture, sport and leisure.
