The Regional Government, through the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for Parliamentary Affairs, has been monitoring and following the procedures adopted by higher education institutions where Azorean students are enrolled, so as to ensure that they are not prejudiced in their assessment due to constraints caused by the pandemic.
“The Regional Government provides the student support line - 800 24 25 26 and the email [email protected] for students requesting financial support. Moreover, it has been making several contacts with higher education institutions where Azorean students are enrolled in order to learn about the methods adopted, always demonstrating its availability to assist in the implementation of the necessary solutions to prevent Azorean students from being harmed,” said Berto Messias.
“From what we have seen, most institutions have set an extraordinary example of adaptation to this new reality in which we are currently living. They have quickly and effectively implemented mechanisms that allow students to take exams at a distance or, in the case of practical exams, to postpone them to a later date," added the Regional Secretary.
According to Berto Messias, "there are also several cases where institutions are resuming their activities normally, with face-to-face classes and in compliance with all the rules defined by the Directorate-General of Health; however, there is no information regarding Azorean students who are having difficulties in accessing the exams."
"We will continue to follow the situation and we recommend that Azorean students who are having difficulties in this area should contact the student support line so that we can assist in the implementation of the necessary solutions," stressed Berto Messias.
