Regional Director for the Communities presents "Azoreans in the World" platform in the USA

The Regional Director for the Communities will travel between February 17 and 22 to the United States of America, where he will participate in dissemination sessions of the "Azoreans in the World" platform and in the opening of the Azorean book section offered by the President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, to the Henry Maden Library at the California State University. He will also have scheduled meetings with various local entities and associations.

Paulo Teves begins Monday this visit to the Azorean community living in the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and California, with the presentation of the "Azorean in the World" platform at the Friends of Terceira Community Centre in Pawtucket and at the House of the Azores of New England in Fall River.

Also, on this first day, the Regional Director will meet with the new organising committee of the Great Feast of the Holy Spirit of New England.

On the following day, Paulo Teves opens the exhibition titled "Seeing the Archipelago: A Student Exhibition of Photographs of the Azores Islands" at Moloney Hall, University of Massachusetts - Lowell.

This exhibition stems from a trip to the Azores in 2019 by a group of students attending the Photography Course at this university.

On February 19, already in California, Paulo Teves will present the platform to several leaders of Portuguese associations in the city of Tulare and will deliver a paper on "Azoreans in the World," as part of the activities organised by the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute in Fresno.

In this city and on the same day, the Regional Director will attend the launch of the book section dedicated to the Azores at the Henry Maden library of the State University of California, a collection offered by the Regional Government.

On February 20, the presentation session of the "Azoreans in the World" platform will take place in Artesia and in Turlock the following day.

In addition, the Regional Director for the Communities will meet with members of the California Portuguese-American Coalition (CPAC) and with the legislators of Portuguese descent from the State of California, who visited the Azores in November 2019.

Paulo Teves ends this visit to the USA in California on February 22 with the presentation of the platform in the city of São José and with a meeting with the Board of the House of the Azores of Hilmar.
