The Government of the Azores, through the Cabinet of the Regional Under Secretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation and the Regional Directorates for Solidarity and Social Security and for Youth, promotes this month a volunteer action to recover the facilities of the São José Parish Hall in Ponta Delgada, where various social and community initiatives take place.
This initiative, which calls for civic participation and active citizenship, is integrated in the European Year of Volunteering (EYV 2011), being the starting point of a series of activities that will take place at that Parish Hall on October 7, 8 and 9, involving several institutions in the area of social intervention.
The Government of the Azores call for all those who wish to participate in this volunteer action to recover the São José Parish Hall by providing materials or participating in volunteer work in the various stages of the project, which includes, among others, painting, carpentry, electricity and gardening.
The works are scheduled to start next week and the deadline for volunteer registration ends next Friday, September 9.
Those who wish to participate in this activity should send an email containing the following information: name, email address, mobile number, the area where they wish to collaborate (painting/carpentry/electricity/gardening/etc); available time – weekends (morning or afternoon) or week-days (morning/afternoon).
Registrations must be submitted until Friday at the following email address: [email protected].
