Multimedia contest for Azorean secondary and vocational education students open until April 19
Secondary and vocational education students in the Region may apply to the multimedia contest on European citizenship until April 19. The event is promoted by the Regional Government in the context of Europe Day celebrations to be marked on May 9.
The initiative developed by the Regional Assistant Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations aims to urge Azorean young people to reflect on European citizenship and a more active participation in the European project.
The contest will select the best nine works, one for each island of the archipelago. They will be broadcast on RTP/Açores between May 1 and 9. The team presenting the best regional video will win a trip to Barcelona.
This contest is open to the participation of all youngsters up to 20 years by May 9, 2016, who are attending the 10th, 11th and 12th forms at regional secondary schools as well as to junior high school students from Corvo Basic Education School and the equivalent levels at vocational training schools.
Students should participate in teams. Each team will be composed of three students (enrolled at the same school but may be in different classes or years) and a teacher, who will be in charge of monitoring the work and activities carried out under the contest.
The works in competition will be assessed by a jury to be composed of members from different areas, taking into consideration the relevance of the message, originality, creativity, visual and communicative impact, and accuracy of contents. Hence, the works should not be limited to descriptive aspects on the subject. They should rather focus on creativity, presentation of an innovative perspective or an original idea reflecting several perspectives on European citizenship.
This multimedia contest aims to improve the knowledge on the European Union in the Region, promote the interest and participation of Azorean students in activities related to the European Union and disseminate the production of works on the European Union and the Azores.
Encouraging the creativity among students, promoting the use of audiovisual means and media, and acknowledging the value of the works produced by students are other goals of this initiative.
Works may be sent by email to [email protected] or by post to the Office of the Regional Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations at Rua Prof. Alfredo Bensaúde, nº 6 r/c, 9500-700 Ponta Delgada. Furthermore, works they may also be delivered in person on DVD format at the same address.
The rules and further information on the contest and the celebration of Europe Day will be available at all secondary and vocational training schools in the archipelago and on the Regional Government Portal(http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srapre/textoImagem/Concurso_Multimedia_2017.htm).
