Rodrigo Oliveira takes part in annual conference of the Luso-American Foundation in California
The Regional Under Secretary for External Relations will travel to the state of California where he will take part, on behalf of the President of the Government, in the annual conference held by the Luso-American Education Foundation (LAEF) on April 25 and 26. Founded in 1963, it is one of the largest Luso-American cultural organisations in the USA.
The event will take place at the University of California in the city of Berkeley. This year's edition will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the April 25 Revolution with a programme that includes several activities, from conferences and exhibitions to training courses for teachers and the presentation of papers by Portuguese language students in California.
On April 25, Rodrigo Oliveira will participate in the opening session of the 38th LAEF conference and, in the afternoon, he will deliver a lecture on "The Implementation of Democracy in Portugal and the Autonomy of the Azores." On the same day, the government official will attend a dinner organised by the Luso-American Fraternal Federation Council in the city of San Pablo.
On April 26, the Regional Under Secretary of the Presidency for External Relations will take part in a meeting with Luso-American youngsters, an initiative promoted by the YPA organisation - Young Portuguese Americans. His two-day visit to California will end with a dinner and the delivery of prizes of the 38th Annual Luso-American Education Foundation Conference. The event will honour several personalities from the Portuguese community residing in that state.
