The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Carlos Machado Museum in Ponta Delgada, will organise on February 5 a guided tour to the "Tea Path" exhibition, followed by a themed workshop on the Chinese New Year featuring shadow puppet games.
This activity is targeted to younger audiences and will be held between 2:30 and 5 PM; registrations should be made by the telephone number 296 202 930. The event falls within the activities to promote the exhibition that is open to the public at the Sacred Art Centre at Colégio Church.
The Chinese horoscope differs substantially from the Western. Each year, according to the lunar calendar, is represented by an animal that will rule over the 12 following months.
The Chinese New Year begins on February 8, marking the start of the Year of the Monkey.
The "Tea Paths" exhibition, ending on April 3, is the result of the field works carried out by the Cultural Intangible Registration team of Carlos Machado Museum with the people and communities still involved in a production that is unique to the island of São Miguel.
In addition to the considerable number of pieces that belong to the collections of Carlos Machado Museum, the exhibition displays images and videos collected with the aim of leaving the experiences of this activity for posterity.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of the CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
