João José da Graça Public Library promotes launch of book "Dart: Uma Família Irlandesa nos Açores e no Mundo"
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive, in Horta, promotes the launch of the book entitled "Dart: Uma Família Irlandesa nos Açores e no Mundo" (Dart: An Irish Family in the Azores and in the World) by historian and genealogist Jorge Forjaz next Friday, September 8.
This book launch, scheduled for 9 PM at the library auditorium, will be presented by Victor Rui Dores and will be attended by the author.
Jorge Eduardo de Abreu Pamplona Forjaz was born in Angra do Heroísmo. He graduated in History and concluded the Librarian-Archivist course. He held the positions of Director of the Museum and Curator of the then Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archive. He also served as Regional Director for Cultural Affairs. He is a full member of the Historical Institute of Terceira Island and corresponding member of the Portuguese Institute of Heraldry.
He was also the editor of "Atlântida" magazine. He is also the author of several of several historical-genealogical works, namely: "The Monjardinos" (1987), "Families from Macau" (1996), "Genealogies of Terceira Island," jointly with António Maria Mendes (2007), "Genealogies of the Four Islands - Faial-Pico-Flores-Corvo," jointly with António Maria Mendes (2009), "Genealogies of São Tomé and Príncipe" (2011), Honorific Insignia of the 20th Century (1900-1910) (2012), among others.
