The Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, in partnership with Angra do Heroísmo City Hall, promotes the presence of the Library in the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara from August 1 - 30. This initiative aims to diversify the library's loan service in villages.
With this activity, the Government brings to the population residing in the villages of Angra do Heroísmo municipality several books available under the loan services in order to disseminate the services that the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive provides to citizens.
The initiative also intends that elderly citizens and people with reduced mobility may have equal access to the books available for home loan, upon request, and under the same conditions as those provided by the Library. In this regard, it stimulates the interest in books and reading, and disseminates the library among the community.
This project, which has already covered the villages of Altares, Serreta and S. Bartolomeu, will soon be extended to the villages of Terra-Chã, Posto Santo, Ribeirinha, Porto Judeu, Feteira and S. Sebastião.
