The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archives in Angra do Heroísmo, promotes the first meeting of the Youth Week "Choosing does not hurt" next Saturday, April 22, at 5 PM.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" is the theme of the meeting that will include the participation of Avelino Ormonde, Maurício Nunes, Nuno Barroso and Susana Cunha, four professionals from very distinct areas.
Moderated by Carlos Severino, these four professionals will show the path they have followed up to the fulfilment of their professional lives, presenting young people the steps to be taken so that they may choose the right path towards their true vocation in life.
Avelino Ormonde is the owner of the company Biofontinhas, located in the municipality of Praia da Vitória, which produces high nutritional, more balanced and healthier food products with no harmful residues.
Maurício Nunes holds a degree in Dentistry from the Higher Institute of Health Sciences - South and graduated in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation at the European School of Oral Rehabilitation Implantology and Biomaterials in collaboration with New York University College of Dentistry. He has private practice experience in surgery and oral rehabilitation, being responsible for the Surgery and Prosthodontics departments.
Nuno Tito de Sousa Barroso holds a degree in Environmental Health from the Lisbon School of Health Technology. He was national junior champion in basketball with Sport Algés and Dafundo, having also played with Sport Club Lusitânia. He is a level III basketball coach and was national champion in the men's second league with Terceira Basket Club.
Still in this sport, he was head coach of the Portuguese Basketball League with Sport Club Lusitânia, reaching twice the semi-finals of the national championship. He also served as Regional Technical Director of Terceira Basketball Association, having started his business activity about two years ago with the opening of a cafe/restaurant.
Susana Cunha holds a degree in Architecture and Interior Design. Within the company Susiarte, she created an architecture and design studio in order to develop a new of activity in this company.
Carlos Mesquita Severino holds a degree in Classical Languages and Literatures and a post-graduate degree in Contemporary Portuguese Culture and Classical Studies. He has worked in East Timor as a trainer of Timorese teachers for five years. He has taught Portuguese at several institutions, including the National Police of East Timor, the Court, the Attorney Office and the University of East Timor.
