Music Treatises on display at Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archives
The Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archives will mark the World Music Day, which is annually celebrated on October 1, with the presentation of an educational exhibition of Music Treatises. The event is addressed at the public in general and, particularly, to music teachers and students in Angra do Heroísmo.
This exhibition features a set of treatises written by some of most influential personalities in this area: João Vaz Barradas Muito Pão e Morato, Francisco Ignácio Solano, José Maurício, Domingos de São José Varela, Rodrigo Ferreira da Costa, Jose Maria Martins Leoni, Antoine Reicha, Luís de Freitas Branco and Tomás Borba.
This event will be of particular interest to bibliophiles as there some rare works among the treatises on display.
Luís Henriques, musicologist at the Department of Music and Musicology of the University of Évora, was in charge of the selection and notes to the works featured in the catalogue.
The exhibition may be visited until October 15 from 9 AM and 7 PM.
