Regional Directorate for Culture launches issue 9 of CulturAçores - Culture Magazine
The Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture (DRC), promotes the launch of issue 9 of the CulturAçores - Culture Magazine, a semi-annual publication of this governmental department.
This issue summarises the challenges faced by cultural heritage managers, through the knowledge and experience of more than three dozen experts shared in three thematic seminars promoted by the DRC in 2018 to mark the "European Year of Cultural Heritage."
"UNESCO World Heritage: Future Prospects," "Accessible and Inclusive Culture" and "Climate Change and Cultural Heritage" were the themes of the meetings held on three Azorean islands - Pico, São Miguel and Terceira - which, bringing together renowned speakers in areas of cultural relevance, have contributed to the promotion of Azorean culture.
CulturAçores - Culture Magazine also highlights the "Paulo Gouveia" Regional Architecture Prize 2018, an award established by DRC to recognise the merit in the recovery of building heritage; the Network of Museums and Visiting Collections of the Azores that is growing and wants to disseminate the impressive artistic collections scattered throughout the Region; or the survey of important historical organs in the Azores.
This publication was distinguished by the Portuguese Association of Museums (APOM) with the "Best Work in the Area of Museology" in 2016. Since its first issue, it has maintained the goal of promoting and disseminating activities promoted or supported by the DRC in an effort to disseminate information through a comprehensive promotional campaign of CulturAçores - Culture Magazine.
Accordingly, the DRC will ensure its dissemination by sending this issue to eight entities in the area of culture and heritage as follows: all regional and central administration departments, besides all the museums under their administration; the members of the Portuguese Museum Network; all Portuguese municipalities; various national and international cultural organisations (UNESCO); cultural institutes and centres located in the both archipelagos and in Mainland Portugal; documentation centres, libraries and university departments; entities linked to the tourism sector; Houses of the Azores in national territory and abroad; various regional and national media; among other recipients.
The magazine is also available for purchase or subscription in print or digital format on the Azores Culture portal, the Regional Directorate for Culture official page, at the address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
