In accordance with an order published in the Official Journal today, the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture appointed the five personalities that will make the jury for the "Paulo Gouveia" architecture prize.
The members of the jury are as follows: Álvaro Siza Vieira, guest of the Regional Directorate for Culture; Carlos Marques, representative of the Portuguese Association of Architects - Regional Section; Vanda Oliveira Aguiar, representative of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores; Pedro Marques, representative of the Azores Building Industry and Public Works Association; Ângelo Santos, representative of the Regional Directorate for Culture.
The "Paulo Gouveia" award "intends to distinguish, every two years, the renewal and renovation projects that respect the existing building heritage and favour the use of endogenous materials, without forgetting the use of contemporary language." The deadline for the submission of works ends on July 10, 2014.
According to the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture, the prize as well as the respective diploma and plaque will be delivered at a public session to be held on November 4, 2014.
