Regional Secretary for Education and Culture establishes Executive Committee of the Network of Museums and Visiting Collections of the Azores
The Executive Committee of the Network of Museums and Visiting Collections of the Azores was formally established by order of the Regional Secretary for Education and Culture published today in the Official Journal.
According to the order issued by Avelino Meneses, the Network of Museums and Visiting Collections of the Azores is "an organised system based on voluntary membership." It is aimed at the "decentralisation, mediation, qualification and cooperation between museums and entities that accommodating visiting collections."
The Executive Committee is made up of the following members: Francisco dos Reis Maduro-Dias, Regional Directorate for Culture, Luís Manuel Machado Menezes, Director of Horta Museum, and Telma Joana de Sousa Teixeira da Silva, representative of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (AMRAA).
The committee will hold office for a period of three years. It will be "responsible for coordinating the network activities, providing technical assistance to its members, ensuring the implementation of good museum practices, contributing to the vitality of this system and cultural dynamics of the areas where museums are located, and fostering partnerships."
