The Regional Government published today in the Official Journal a resolution approving the launch of the international public tender for the second phase of São Miguel Science and Technology Park - NONAGON. The project includes the construction of the Business Centre for Information and Communication Technologies and has a base price of six million Euros, plus VAT at the legal rate in force.
This second building, with a completion period of 16 months, intends to follow the incubation process of companies in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), namely in digital agriculture, e-tourism and in the fisheries and sea sector, which are currently installed in a technology-based business incubator also headquartered at NONAGON.
Hence, the installation of the Business Centre for Information and Communication Technologies aims to respond, in the post-incubation phase, to companies in the ICT areas that have consolidated themselves.
Simultaneously, the new building will accommodate the so-called "fablab," a technical support space for a new generation of entrepreneurs with equipment, processes and human resources suitable for the transformation of ideas into prototypes and products, also in the ICT area.
Considering that the NONAGON building that houses technology companies is nearly full, with an occupancy rate of 100 percent, the construction of a second building is essential to accommodate new ICT companies.
The resolution now published was approved by the Council of the Government on January 23 and enters into force on Tuesday, February 11.
