The Regional Secretary for Health, Teresa Machado Luciano, announced that the Government has already established the schedule for the resumption of health care activities carried out under agreements with the Regional Health Service, the provision of dentistry and stomatology services, as well as for private clinical activity in the medical specialties of stomatology, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology.
These activities will be gradually resumed on the nine islands of the Azores in accordance with the following schedule: from 12 am of May 6 on the islands of Santa Maria, Flores, Corvo, Terceira, Faial, Pico and São Jorge; from 12 am of May 17 May on the island of Graciosa; and from 12 am of May 22 on the island of São Miguel.
These activities have been suspended since mid-March in order to prevent and limit the spread of infection with the novel coronavirus in the Azores, with the exception of urgent clinical situations.
The order, already sent for publication in the Official Journal, is part of the relaxation of restrictive measures adopted in the health sector, which intended, in a responsible manner, to prevent and limit the spread of infection with the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
