55 applications submitted under tender launched by the Government of the Azores for allocation of housing in Canada do Breado neighbourhood
The public tender for the allocation of 12 apartments located in Canada do Breado neighbourhood in Santa Luzia in Santa Luzia, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, on a sublease scheme with purchase option registered the submission of 55 applications. This measure will meet the permanent housing needs of applicants and their respective households.
The period for applications of applications began on May 10 and ended on May 31. The dwellings put to tender include 11 two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom.
The Region has already leased 37 apartments located in Canada do Breado neighbourhood to the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, which were allocated in two stages through the launch of two tenders last year.
In a context when access to bank credit is difficult, the possibility of renting a house with purchase option has been an option taken by Azorean families, particularly among young people.
The option can be made after one year after signing of the lease agreements.
With this initiative, the Government of the Azores responds once more to the needs of Azorean families, allowing access to adequate housing with a subsidised rent and benefiting young families.
Under this programme, the Government has launched tenders for the allocation of 150 tenders on the island of S. Miguel (villages of Maia and Ribeira Seca - municipality of Ribeira Grande and Livramento - municipality of Ponta Delgada) and Terceira (village of Santa Luzia).
Families benefit from subsidised rents and are be exempted from payment of other charges applicable to situations of permanent housing acquisition, as condominium expenses and insurance, Municipal Property Tax or other expenses incurred on housing loans.
