Andreia Cardoso highlights progress in childhood and youth public policies in the Region
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity pointed out in Angra do Heroísmo the most recent measures created by the Regional Government in the area of childhood and youth, highlighting the progress and importance of the work developed in partnership with private social solidarity institutions and other governmental departments.
Andreia Cardoso spoke at the opening of the seminar "Childhood and Youth: Social Intervention Practice," an event organised by the Azores Social Security Institute. The government official recalled the most recent investments made by the Regional Government in this area, namely the work with the Centres for Youth Development and Inclusion Centres, the creation of the Commissioner for Children and regulation on nanny services in the archipelago.
In her speech, she also mentioned the implementation of the pilot project for the creation of Free Time Activity Centres from 3 to 18 years, stressing the importance of the measure in promoting inclusive policies that the Government of the Azores has been defending since the beginning of this legislative period.
According to Andreia Cardoso, the promotion of truly integrated and integrating measures was made possible by the close collaboration with the Regional Secretariats for Education and Culture and Health as well as by the network of regional partners that includes 230 institutions. This allowed the Government to develop innovative measures in the area of childhood and youth, many of which are exclusive to the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
