Government of the Azores assures recovery of houses damaged by bad weather in São Roque
The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity signed today in São Roque, municipality of Ponta Delgada, an agreement with the Village Council for the payment of costs incurred with the recovery of the houses damaged by the storms of December 2015 and January 2016.
On the occasion, Andreia Cardoso stressed the importance of collaboration, considering that "municipalities are a crucial partner of the Regional Government in the recovery of degraded and damaged housing, especially in situations such as the December and January storms."
The agreement represents an investment of 100 thousand Euros; 80% will be assured by the Government of the Azores while the remainder will be provided by the Village of Council of São Pedro in the form of hand labour.
"We have immediately surveyed the situation in conjunction with the Village Council of São Roque and we have directed resources for interventions," which were carried out in a short period of time, assured the Regional Secretary.
This support has allowed the rehabilitation of 28 homes damaged by bad weather.
After signing the protocol, Andreia Cardoso visited some of the recovered houses.
