Regional Government allocates 300 thousand Euros in new support measures for degraded housing
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity allocated today financial support for the renewal of degraded houses to nearly 30 families at a ceremony held in Ponta Delgada. These measures correspond to a total investment of about 300 thousand Euros.
The ceremony was presided over by the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity, who granted the allocation of financial support to 22 processes concerning the recovery of degraded housing and buildings infested by termites, representing an amount over 255 thousand Euros, as well as to six support measures for the construction and expansion of permanent housing, which amounts to 42 thousand Euros.
"Improving the conditions of dwellings and providing them with safety, hygiene and comfort are the main goals of the Regional Government for this area, which are embodied in the implementation of initiatives designed to recover existing buildings rather than building new ones. This strategy contributes to the preservation of our cultural identity and the legacy our ancestors, while combating the degradation of buildings," said Andreia Cardoso.
The Regional Secretary reminded that in the current legislative period, the Regional Government has already authorised 450 support measures, corresponding to an investment amounting to 4.5 million Euros.
The financial support granted today will benefit 28 families residing in the municipalities of Lagoa, Nordeste, Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande (São Miguel Island), covering a total of one hundred people.
