Regional Government allocates over 100 thousand Euros to the renewal of degraded housing in Rabo de Peixe
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity highlighted today in Rabo de Peixe the effort that has been carried out by the Government of the Azores in the area of housing in this village of the municipality of Ribeira Grande. The government official spoke during the signing ceremony of five protocols with families, an investment over 100 thousand Euros.
"Basically, these protocols evidence this concern: identifying the needs that require specific intervention and, above all, lack specific support. It is not enough to allocate funds; it is also important to monitor these issues," stated Andreia Cardoso.
In this context, the Regional Secretary stressed that the contracts signed today under the Management programme for the Support to Degraded Housing "are intended to channel these resources to the interventions deemed necessary."
Accordingly, the government official rejected the criticisms made to the Regional Government, recalling that the contracts signed last week in Nordeste and today in Rabo de Peixe "demonstrate exactly the opposite."
"The Government finds partners when we realise that families have difficulties in making a proper management of financial support. In fact, it establishes partnerships with local authorities in order to assure the financial management and the monitoring of the renewal works, thus providing safety and health conditions for these houses," stressed the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity.
Our intention is to maintain this strategy, Andreia Cardoso mentioned, revealing that a new collaboration agreement will be established with the Village Council of Rabo de Peixe for the allocation of 11 thousand Euros "for emergency works in dwellings."
On Monday morning, Andreia Cardoso visited some of the houses that were covered by Regional Government's programme for the renewal of degraded housing in economically disadvantaged households.
In the current legislative period, the Azorean Government has already invested 560 thousand Euros in support programmes for the renewal of degraded housing in the village of Rabo de Peixe.
