Air fares for transport of fresh products from and to cohesion islands reduced by 50%
The Government of the Azores has implemented, under the Azorean Agenda for Employment Creation and Business Competitiveness, a special fare for the air transport of regional fresh products from and to the Cohesion Islands.
The new air fare reduces by 50% the costs of the air transport of regional fresh products, such as vegetables, fruits and fresh dairy products (yogurt and fresh cheese) that have the Cohesion Islands as their origin or destination.
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport stressed that with this measure," the Azorean Government aims to encourage internal circulation of fresh products produced in the Region and, simultaneously, support the marketing of produce from local producers."
On the other hand, "this is a measure that encourages inter-island trade of fresh produce and it will certainly contribute to improving the diet of the Azorean population," stated Vítor Fraga.
The reduction of the air fare for the transport of fresh products is already in force.
