Regional Government authorises launch of procedures for public investments over 26 million Euros
The Government of the Azores has decided to authorise the launch of procedures for a series of public investments to take place within the governmental departments and regional business sector. With a global allocation of about 26 million Euros, these investments are included in the Regional Public Works Charter (CROP).
The Government, which met in Horta on Monday, approved the launch of several works, such as the sealing of two landfills on the island of Flores and other two on the island of Graciosa; the renewal and protection of hydrographic network of the islands of Flores and São Miguel; and several interventions to be carried on regional roads of São Miguel and Terceira. Furthermore, these interventions also include the resurfacing of the pier at Praia da Vitória port, the construction of the access pavement to the fuel terminal and the installation of a firefighting network; the expansion of the jetty at Velas port; and the recovery, expansion and renewal of houses on the islands of São Jorge and São Miguel.
In the context of CROP, the Government of the Azores will develop a series of procedures for public works in the area of Education. The procedures regarding the interventions to be carried out to address the presence of asbestos in school buildings are expected to be launched by the end of 2015.
Furthermore, the Council of the Government also approved the Transport Integrated Programme (PIT), which defines the axes for an effective coordination between all means of transport by ensuring the interconnection, within the physically possible, of schedules, logistics, operational parameters and information management, always bearing in mind the service rendered to citizens and companies.
