The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport stated this afternoon that "in face of an increasingly global market, we have to deal with the highest levels of competitiveness that demand from us a greater effort towards the qualification, modernisation, innovation and diversification of our tourism offer."
Speaking at the presentation of yazores.com platform, a tool designed for the promotion and marketing of the Azores Destination, Vítor Fraga conveyed his belief that "this project will certainly be effective and feasible, allowing immediate access to wider target markets."
For the Regional Secretary, the promotion of this initiative in the online market brings the "necessary modernity," which will not cause "any rupture between tradition and innovation."
"On the contrary, it requires the harmonisation between concepts and practices which complement each other and build new paths for the Azores Destination," added the government official.
These are the new paths we "want to continue following in the development of our tourism offer in order to maintain the dynamics that allows us to keep up with evolution of an ever-changing sector," said Vítor Fraga.
The Government of the Azores "has worked together with all partners in the sector with the aim of promoting the sustainable development of tourism in the Region," the Regional Secretary stressed, adding that "we have been following the right path, but we cannot disregard the establishment of partnerships and the consensus of interests among all partners."
Only then, "it will be possible to continue increasing tourism flows to the Region and contributing to the sustainability of the Azores as a quality tourist region," said the government official.
Vítor Fraga considered that this Internet operator, which was presented today, "does not clash with the more traditional type of tourism operator"; they complement each other.
