Vítor Fraga reiterates commitment to support events with economic return to the Azores
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport assured today that the Azorean Government will continue supporting the organisation of events that will contribute to the increase of tourism flows to the Azores as well as to the promotion of the Azores Destination.
In this context, the government official pointed out the stages of the Formula Windsurfing World Championship and the Slalom Windsurfing. Both competitions will take place on the island of Terceira in Praia da Vitória in the months of April and May, bringing together over 200 participants.
During the presentation of these events in the Azores stand at the Lisbon Tourism Market, Vítor Fraga assured that the Regional Government will do everything within its reach "to consolidate this sport and turn it into an actual tourism product."
"In fact, both competitions fall within the strategy developed by the Government to increase tourism flows. On the one hand, they contribute to the promotion of the Azores destination, and, on the other hand, they attract tourist flows to the Region," stressed the Regional Secretary.
For the government official, this is and will continue to be the main guideline set by the Regional Government to promote the organisation of events in the Region; most of which are nature-related and "draw the potentialities of what the Azores have to offer."
