The Government of the Azores participates in the European Week of Regions and Cities - Open Days, an initiative of the European Commission and the Committee of the Regions taking place in Brussels until Thursday.

The programme of the 13th edition of Open Days, held under the theme "Cities and Regions of Europe: Partners for Investment and Growth," is structured around three themes: Modernising Europe; Regions in activity; Places and Spaces.

The Government of the Azores will be represented in this important annual European forum is represented by the Regional Director for Planning and Structural Funds, Rui Amman. The event brings together thousands of participants, including representatives of local, regional and national authorities and of European institutions.

The 13th European Week of Regions and Cities - Open Days includes various seminars and lectures. This year’s edition will be focused on the challenges for EU cohesion policy 2014-2020 and their trend towards regional specialisation strategies and "smart implementation" of European regional policy.
