Azores to be part of interregional consortium to promote effectiveness of public administration in Macaronesia

The Government of the Azores, through the RIAC - Integrated Network for Citizen Support, will be part of the interregional consortium that will develop the SIMPLIMAC project over the next three years, under the Community Initiative Programme INTERREG MAC 2016-2020.

The consortium is composed of public authorities of the autonomous regions of the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands as well as of Cape Verde and Senegal. These two countries are geographically close to the cooperation area defined for this programme.

The project formally started today in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, where the first transnational meeting for the exchange of experiences - SIMPLIMAC is taking place, involving different partners.

The aim of this cooperation contributes to improving the efficiency of public administration of each of the territories involved by promoting simplification strategies and administrative modernisation.

The project is based on the implementation of a series of actions that will be concerted on this first day of joint work.

RIAC is a public institution under the administration of the Vice-Presidency of the Government, Employment and Business Competitiveness. It embodies the proximity relation of the regional public administration with citizens, providing a network of more than fifty offices located in all municipalities of the Region.

A wide range of services and information contents in various areas are also available through a toll-free number and an Internet portal.

Rationalisation, modernisation and quality of service of the regional administration are some of the powers assigned to RIAC.
