Companies presented investment projects amounting to 115 million Euros in the Azores in just six months
The Vice-President of the Government revealed in Lisbon that "new investment projects amounting to 115 million Euros submitted in the Azores in just six months." This situation demonstrates the "great confidence" of entrepreneurs in the growth of the regional economy.
"In just six month, there has been an amount of investment intentions that represent 35 percent of what has been registered so far," since the entry into force of the incentive scheme - Competir+, said Sérgio Ávila.
These investment projects alone, he stressed, will "stimulate job creation." They are expected to create more than half a thousand new jobs.
The Vice-President spoke to journalists at the Azores stand during SISAB PORTUGAL. According to him, 2018 and 2019 will be years "with a huge growth of private investment and, essentially, investment in the promotion of exports."
"The trend of economic growth is being consolidated," Sérgio Ávila stressed, adding that this will be a unique period in the history of economic development with the implementation of "private investment and the existence of so many investment intentions in such a short period of time."
The government official also stressed the fact that this dynamics of private investment is a reality on many islands of the archipelago.
Sérgio Ávila considered that the increase in exports and the reduction of imports registered in 2017, as announced this week, "effectively demonstrate that the investment in the development of our export economy is showing excellent results."
"We are in a consolidated phase of economic growth that is further strengthened by the enormous confidence on the part of our entrepreneurs," stressed the Vice-President of the Government.
Under the strategy to promote the export of regional products and services developed by the Regional Government, the Region has its own stand. It features about thirty regional companies represented at SISAB PORTUGAL 2018 - International Trade Fair for Portuguese Food and Beverage, which is taking place at Altice Arena in Lisbon.
